Fabiola moved to Lawrence when she was eight years old, the oldest of three children. In 2018, she was on Indeed and came across a part-time opportunity to work for Partners in Child Development and its Early Intervention Services program. She was planning a vacation at the time and decided to apply to make some extra money in advance of her vacation.
Little did she know that, nearly six years later, she would be employed full-time at Partners in Child Development and seeing so much opportunity for her professional advancement!
Fabiola started as a file clerk, working two hours a day. She recalls knowing a little about Early Intervention Services as both of her younger siblings had received services when they were young. When a staff member went out on maternity leave, she stepped in to cover her responsibilities. Then an Admin opportunity opened up and Fabiola stepped into that role, working at the entrance to the Lawrence Early Intervention Services offices providing administrative support and greeting children and families. While describing herself as not really ‘a kid person’, she reflected back on this role and how she loved seeing the growth and development of children who initially were not walking or speaking and then by age three were talking in full sentences and walking in and out of the office!
While working, Fabiola earned her associates degree in business administration from Northern Essex. She continued to take on more responsibilities and, in 2024, was encouraged to apply for a role in Human Resources for Partners in Child Development. She so appreciated the support she received from everyone in Early Intervention (EI) as she submitted her application and went through the hiring process. It was an especially busy time for Early Intervention Services as they had just been granted to serve eight more communities in Massachusetts and there was a lot of work to be done to be ready for the July 1 effective date.
Fabiola remembers the day she was notified that she got the job as Talent Acquisition Coordinator in Human Resources. She was thrilled but felt badly to be leaving EI at a time they were so busy and needed all hands-on deck. In August, she started her new role, now working in the Andover location where HR, Woodbridge School and Anderson School are located.
Fabiola has a wonderful quality of being naturally curious; her mind is always going, and she loves to learn. She is appreciative of the warm, welcoming and supportive work environment that permeates Partners in Child Development. She sees so much opportunity for advancement working in human resources and is amazed at all of the facets of HR that she is being exposed to and learning about including community connections, leadership, professional development, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and compliance. She reflects on the different lens from which she is now seeing Partners in Child Development from a more behind the scenes role than being at the front door greeting children and families.
When not working, Fabiola loves to read fantasy books. She loves fashion, so shopping is a hobby, and she enjoys her cats. She speaks of her Dominican roots and her love for the neighborhood in which she lives in Lawrence.
Fabiola is closing in on her 6-year anniversary with Partners in Child Development. We are thrilled to have her on the staff and remark on her contributions over this time.
“Fabiola has been a wonderful addition to the Human Resources Team, and it’s so exciting to be able to offer her the opportunity to grow her career within the organization. Fab’s insightful and thought-provoking questions, along with her curiosity, passion for learning new things, and strong work ethic are an asset to Partners in Child Development and the HR Department but will also go a long way as she continues to forge her career path. I can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes!” Darlene Brown, Director of Human Resources.
When asked what superpower she would want to have, Fabiola did not hesitate: Teleporting!
