Making Every Day a Learning Experience

Make Every Day a Learning Experience

Partners in Child Development’s Early Intervention Services program empowers and improves outcomes for families with children aged infant to three years old who have developmental delays or are at risk for delays. Our services are embedded in families’ daily routines, accounting for and respectful of family culture and learning style.

As one of our program’s developmental specialists, Shameeka De Jesus highlights daily routines present great moments for a child to learn and develop.

Learning doesn’t just happen during structured activities; it happens all day long in the everyday moments shared with your child.

Simple routines like mealtime, bath time, and playtime are rich opportunities to support your child’s communication, motor, and social development. These everyday interactions are where children learn best, through connection, repetition, and play.

How Families Can Support Child Development Every Day

  • Follow your child’s lead: Join in what they’re already interested in
  • Talk throughout the day: Describe actions, label objects, and keep language simple
  • Pause and wait: Give your child time to respond with sounds, gestures, or words
  • Offer choices: “Do you want juice or milk?” to encourage communication
  • Repeat, repeat, repeat: Repetition helps children learn and feel confident
